Carl Kingsley

Carl Raymond Kingsley, 58, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Carl was born on January 3, 1951 in Edina, Missouri, the son of Raymond Ray and Charlene Ona Shumate Kingsley.

He was raised in Edina, Missouri and attended the Edina Elementary School and graduated from the Knox County High School in the Class of 1969. He began his career with I.G.A. Grocery Stores.  In 1979 they were purchased by C.&R. Market and he continued working for them in Edina, Milan, La Plata and was currently the Meat Department Manager with the store in Shelbina, Missouri.

On June 26, 1976, in Edina,  Missouri, Carl married Nelda Fern Clary and they celebrated life together.

Carl followed the St. Louis Cardinals, enjoyed fishing, traveling out west, and visiting with friends but he loved spending time with his family and watching his grandsons play baseball and football. Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Nelda, two sons, Dennis and his wife Elizabeth of Bowling Green, Missouri and Mike and his wife Tracy  of Louisiana, Missouri; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Jon Davis of Edina, a brother, Rick and his wife Dora of Edina, three sisters, Shirley Kingsley of Edina,  Carol Kingsley of Edina, Mary and her husband Melvin Baker of Etowah, Tennessee and a brother-in-law, Mike Miller and his wife Martha of Edina, a sister-in-law, Linda and her husband Bill Lint of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nathan and Marisa Kingsley and Brandee, Ryan and Matt Davis; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of neighbors and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ona Kingsley.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Burial was in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri with Pastor Doug Wilson officiating.  Casket Bearers were Terry Shumate, Bill Lint, Nick Miller, Rick Winter, Charles "C.E." McCarty and Joe Pflum.  Honorary Bearers  were Kenny Dooley, Randy Parton, Dickie Davis, Junior Crabtree, Richard and Mary Scarff.

An expression of sympathy in memory of Carl Kingsley may be left to the American Heart Association. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
